The Stargazer Fleet

STARGAZER

Trailorboat #132

The camper at the center of the restoration. Built for wandering, and named for camping beneath the night sky, and looking toward what comes next.

SPLASHDOWN

The Removable Boat

The original removable fiberglass boat — named as a nod to the space-race era and the moment a spacecraft returns from the sky to the water.

ESCAPE POD

2020 Ford Escape SE Sport Hybrid

Named for the freedom to escape away from the noise of the city when the world becomes too much. It takes me back to the places where I can breathe, reset, and reconnect with myself again in nature.

BUILT TO BE USED AGAIN

Restoration visualization: A preview of the planned direction for #132. The final design may evolve as the restoration progresses.

My goal for #132 isn’t to create a museum piece. I want to preserve what survived, respect its original design, and thoughtfully update what it needs for another life on the road.

When the restoration is complete, Stargazer will camp again, Splashdown will return to the water, and the entire rig will be something I can actually travel with and enjoy.

More than sixty years of history are still written into #132. Her TRH 132 stamp, original California license plate, boat registration numbers, hardware, her oars with leather trim, and other surviving components offer clues to where she has been, how she was used, and what remains from the day she was built. As I restore her, I’m documenting those details before anything changes—following the signals from her past to better understand her story.

Signals from the past

Follow The Restoration

From the condition #132 arrived in to the decisions, discoveries, repairs and rebuild ahead, I’m documenting the restoration as it happens.

#132 doesn’t have to be finished before her next chapter begins. I plan to camp with her, take her to car shows and gatherings, and let people see the restoration as it happens—unfinished fiberglass, repairs, discoveries and all. Eventually she’ll return to the water and emerge in her new colors, but the journey from what she is today to what she becomes is part of the story worth sharing. Along the way, she’s becoming part of communities that celebrate the same things that drew me to this project in the first place—design, history, creativity, camping and the joy of doing something wonderfully different.
